French Rock Takes Over Cherry Creek with La Jarry

Updated: Jul 28

Bastille Day: French Fest 2025 came to life in Cherry Creek North with an electrifying launch, thanks to the pulse-pounding energy of La Jarry — the French rock band that flew in just for the occasion.

On Friday, July 11, Fillmore Plaza transformed into a full-blown open-air concert venue as thousands gathered to experience a night of music, community, and culture. Opening the evening was Colorado’s own funk powerhouse, Krewe De Groove, who lit up the plaza with infectious rhythm and brass-heavy swagger. Their groove set the perfect tone for the evening before giving way to a moment of Opening Ceremony remarks from the French American Chamber of Commerce Rocky Mountain and civic leaders.

Then came the headline act. La Jarry, a chart-topping band from France led by brothers Benoît and David Pourtau, along with Arnaud Bottin and Alexandre Thibault, delivered a show that was equal parts rock, heart, and cultural exchange. With roots in French rock and global experience across major festivals like Francofolies de Montreal and Printemps de Bourges, their sound hit the sweet spot between catchy anthems and emotional depth. Hits like Mea Culpa had the crowd singing along — French lyrics and all.

La Jarry is an alternative rock band from France, founded by brothers Benoît (lead vocals) and David Pourtau (guitar). Known for their dynamic live shows and heartfelt lyrics, the band first caught international attention after Benoît’s chance encounter with Peter Gabriel led them to record early demos at Real World Studios in Bath, UK. Their debut EP Liverpool was recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios and produced by Ben Finlay — known for his work with artists like Stereophonics, Placebo, Peter Gabriel, and Robert Plant. With a rich musical lineage and a growing international fanbase, La Jarry continues to deliver French rock with a global edge.

It was a celebration of transatlantic friendship, free for all to attend, and a vibrant kickoff to a weekend filled with food, fashion, wine, and family-friendly fun. One lucky attendee won tickets to Cirque du Soleil ECHO, as part of our festival giveaway. For those seeking an elevated start to the evening, our sold-out Tastefully French VIP Reception at Roche Bobois delivered Champagne, caviar, design, and conversation in style with access to the concert just steps outside.

La Jarry’s performance set the tone for a weekend that blended French culture with Denver charm. It reminded us why we celebrate: not just to mark Bastille Day, but to bring people together, build bridges, and rock out a little under the Colorado sky. Merci, La Jarry.
