Krewe De Groove Brings the Funk to Bastille Day

Updated: Jul 29

Bastille Day: French Fest 2025 kicked off in unforgettable style with a high-energy performance by Krewe De Groove, Denver’s hottest funk unit, who turned Fillmore Plaza into a full-blown groove party on Friday, July 11.

As the sun dipped behind Cherry Creek North’s skyline, the band delivered a set soaked in New Orleans spirit and packed with original funk, 70s disco vibes, soul, and rock. From the first beat, the crowd couldn’t help but move. Krewe De Groove’s signature musical gumbo lit up the plaza, led by founder Bagus, who carried his hometown rhythm from New Orleans to Denver, bringing along the city's unmistakable flavor. He was joined by Colin Callahan on drums, Rich Salm on guitar, and Chris Keulling on bass, together serving a dance-fueled soundtrack that radiated joy.

The live music set the tone for a festival that celebrates French culture. Fans packed the plaza to dance, sip chilled rosé, and browse the French Market, all while getting hyped for the night’s headliner, La Jarry, the alt-rock band flown in straight from France. Krewe De Groove’s performance was a celebration and brought the community together to kick off the festival. Merci to this powerful Denver-based band for reminding us that funk and freedom are a perfect pairing to launch Bastille Day weekend.
