RMFACC Visits the International School of Denver: Building Bridges Through Language, Culture, and Global Education

The International School of Denver recently welcomed Sacha François, Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain French-American Chamber of Commerce, for a campus visit focused on French language education and international learning.

The visit offered a firsthand look at ISD’s French program in action, where students learn in an immersive, multilingual environment designed to prepare them for an increasingly global world. As an IB and French Ministry dual-accredited school, ISD offers students a strong academic foundation rooted in inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and cross-cultural understanding.

French Immersion in Action

During the visit, Sacha had the opportunity to observe how ISD brings the French language to life across grade levels. The school’s French curriculum follows official French materials, while students also participate in a broader International Baccalaureate framework that connects language learning with real-world concepts and interdisciplinary exploration.

One highlight of the program is ISD’s intensive French immersion pathway for students entering grades 3–5 without a French background. These students receive 130 minutes of daily French instruction while continuing to participate in math, classroom units, and co-taught learning experiences. This model has proven successful, with students who entered the program later in elementary school continuing through graduation.

A Campus Designed for Global Learning

The visit also included a tour of ISD’s expanded campus, including its newer middle school building, recently opened high school space, design lab, art and music areas, and collaborative learning environments. The facilities reflect the school’s emphasis on creativity, innovation, and student-centered learning.

From 3D printers and robotics to writable walls, huddle rooms, and gallery-style student artwork, the campus is designed to encourage students to think, create, collaborate, and communicate across languages and disciplines.

Looking Ahead

RMFACC is proud to support institutions like the International School of Denver that are preparing the next generation of globally minded students. Through language, culture, travel, and community partnerships, ISD continues to play an important role in strengthening the francophone and international ecosystem in Colorado. We look forward to continuing the conversation and exploring new ways to connect students, families, educators, and businesses across the French-American community.
