Safran DSI completes New Satellite Thruster Production Line in Colorado

Construction of the satellite thruster production line in Parker, Colorado is now complete, with commissioning set to begin in the coming months.
Designed as an agile manufacturing center, the Parker Space Factory hinges around three core pillars - Proliferate, Connect, Maneuver - and is dedicated to spaceflight hardware, starting with the PPS®X00 thruster.
This initiative builds on Safran DSI’s continued investment in its operations and capabilities to provide critical solutions and best-in-class support to commercial and government customers across the United States.
Commissioning of the production line will mark the next stages as Safran DSI prepares for initial thruster production and continues to refine its manufacturing operations for future programs.
“Our PPS®X00 production line in Parker is sized to meet near-term demand, with an efficient way to scale-up production to meet future needs.” said Chris Keeler, President of Safran DSI Space Solutions. “As affordable access to space grows and creates higher demand for on-orbit capability, we expect increased interest in Safran DSI’s space propulsion capabilities for New Space and traditional space missions.”
Electric propulsion systems, including U.S.-made thrusters, will begin shipping from the Parker facility in 2027.
In addition to providing scalable and flight-proven solutions, the Space Factory is a valuable partner in Colorado’s growing space industry. “The commissioning process is just the beginning. We anticipate production and collaboration with professionals across various fields, including engineering, manufacturing, assembly, facilities, logistics, and administrative services in 2027,” said Kari Hudson, Director of Operations at Safran DSI Space Solutions business unit. The Parker, Colorado, plant also serves as a hub of expertise for satellite communications along with space and ground domain awareness. Safran DSI is at the forefront of these fields, powered by its advanced CORTEX modems and an extensive, privately owned antenna network supporting the WeTrack™ space surveillance service.
